Introduction 서론

As we enter the Pentecost season, the focus falls on the Holy Spirit. The Bible is filled with references to the Holy Spirit. The name "Holy Ghost" or "Holy Spirit " occurs ninety-three times in the New Testament. In Acts alone, He is mentioned over fifty times; seventeen references exist in the eighth chapter of Romans.

세우는 일에 능력을 부어주실 분으로 말씀하고 계신다.

o Luke says that Jesus will send forth the Holy Spirit, and John 14:26 says "the Father will send" the Spirit. In John 14:16, Jesus says He will ask the Father to give the Spirit. The Spirit was promised in Ezekiel 36:27 as the new order of the New Covenant.

o The Holy Spirit is essential to the Church's life, power, unity, and mission. Without the Holy Spirit, the Church becomes just a human organization, not the living body of Christ it is meant to be. Here's why the Holy Spirit is so important to the Church:

성령은 교회의 생명, 능력, 연합, 그리고 사명에 필수적이다. 성령이 없다면 교회는 본래 의도된

그리스도의 살아있는 몸이 아닌, 단지 인간의 조직에 불과할 뿐이다. 성령이 교회에 그토록 중요한

이유는 다음과 같다.

• ▪  The Holy Spirit Gives Life to the Church

  성령은 교회에 생명을 주신다

  The Church was born at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out (Acts 2). “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” — John 6:63.

  교회는 오순절 성령 강림 때 탄생했다(사도행전 2 장). "살리는 것은 영이니 육은

  무익하니라." — 요한복음 6:63.

• ▪  The Spirit Empowers Worship and Prayer

  성령께서 예배와 기도에 능력을 주신다

  True worship and prayer happen through the Spirit (John 4:24, Romans 8:26). The Spirit intercedes for us and helps us pray when we don’t know how. “The Spirit helps us in our weakness... the Spirit himself intercedes for us...” — Romans 8:26

  진정한 예배와 기도는 성령을 통해 이루어진다(요한복음 4:24, 로마서 8:26). 성령은 우리를 위해 중보하시고, 우리가 어떻게 기도해야 할지 모를 때 기도하도록 도와주신다. "성령께서 우리의 연약함을 도우시고... 성령께서 친히 우리를 위해 간구하시느니라..." —

• ▪  The Spirit Equips the Church with Spiritual Gifts

  성령께서는 교회에 영적 은사를 주신다

  The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers to build up the Church (1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4).

  성령께서는 교회를 세우기 위해 믿는 자들에게 영적 은사를 주신다(고린도전서 12 장, 로마서 12 장, 에베소서 4 장).

  The Church is powerless without the Spirit, but full of power, love, and purpose when it lives in the Spirit. 교회는 성령 없이는 무력하지만, 성령 안에서 살면 능력과 사랑, 그리고 목적이 충만해진다.

2. Who is the Holy Spirit? 성령은 누구인가? ▪ He is a person – the 3rd in the Trinity.

성령은 삼위일체의 세 번째 위격이신 인격체이시다.
In John 14, 15, and 16, He spoke of the Holy Spirit as “He” because He is not a force or thing but a person.

The Bible shows that the Holy Spirit has intellect, emotions, and will.
요한복음 14, 15, 16 장에서 예수님은 성령을 "그분"이라고 부르셨다. 성령은 힘이나 사물이 아니라

인격체이시기 때문이다. 성경은 성령에게 지성, 감정, 의지가 있음을 보여준다.

• ▪  He is God, the 3rd person of the Trinity.

  성령은 삼위일체의 세 번째 위격인 하나님이시다.

  “But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back some of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men but God” (Acts 5:34).

• ▪  How can we explain the Trinity? 삼위일체를 어떻게 설명할 수 있나?
  I think of the Trinity as light through a prism. 나는 삼위일체를 프리즘을 통한 빛으로 생각한다.

o God as light expresses his holiness, purity, truth, guidance, glory, and presence. “God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”— 1 John 1:5.

빛이신 하나님은 자신의 거룩함, 순결함, 진리, 인도하심, 영광, 그리고 임재를 표현하신다. “하나님은 빛이시니 그에게는 어둠이 조금도 없으시다.” — 요한일서 1:5.

3. Plugged in! 연결됨!

Luke 24:49 "And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high."
Note the phrase clothed with power, which refers to the Holy Spirit's power to enable us in ministry.

누가복음 24:49 "보라, 내가 내 아버지의 약속하신 것을 너희에게 보내리니, 너희는 위로부터 능력을 입힐 때까지 이 성에 머물러 있으라."
"능력을 입었다"라는 구절에 주목하라. 이 구절은 사역을 감당할 수 있도록 우리를 능력 있게 하시는 성령의 능력을 의미한다.

o Enable = to make able, to supply with power, to furnish with ability, to provide with the means, to make possible, to empower. This word implies that one has no inherent power and is entirely dependent on being given the necessary power to accomplish a task.

Conclusion 결론

가능하게 하다 = 할 수 있게 하다, 힘을 공급하다, 능력을 갖추다, 수단을 제공하다, 가능하게

하다, 힘을 주다. 이 단어는 사람에게는 내재적인 힘이 없으며, 일을 완수하기 위해 필요한

o John 20:21: Jesus told them, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.”

요한복음 20:21: 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 "너희에게 평강이 있을지어다 아버지께서 나를 보내신 것 같이 나도 너희를 보내노라." 22 이 말씀을 하시고 그들에게 숨을 내쉬며 이르시되 "성령을 받으라.”

Elmer Towns aptly illustrates why so much of Christian ministry has failed to bring revival to America. Sometimes children receive toys marked with three words that promise problems ahead: "batteries not included." Without batteries to energize these toys, they will not do what they were designed to do. Like the toy without its batteries, many Christians fail to rise to their potential effectiveness because they are not energized with the power of the Holy Spirit. More to the point, we need to allow the batteries to be turned on, so that we might function as we should! Are you plugged in?
