“4 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.(1 Peter 2:4-5)

Introduction: The Church as the “ekklesia” "에클레시아"로서의 교회

Not a building project - gathering people, not constructing temples

A living organism - Spirit-filled, growing movement

살아있는 유기체 – 성령 충만하고 성장하는 움직임

A missional community - called out with purpose

선교적 공동체 – 목적을 가지고 부름 받은

⚫ When Jesus said, "I will build my ekklesia,"예수님이 "내가 내 에클레시아를 세우리라" 말씀하셨을 때, ⚫ He was making a revolutionary statement: 혁명적인 선언을 하고 계셨다:

새로운 공동체 – 구약의 이스라엘과 같은 새로운 언약 공동체

4. 4.1.

The Radical Contrast: Dead vs. Living Traditional materials (stone, brick, wood, concrete):

• ⚫  Hard, immovable, lifeless

• ⚫  Stay where placed

• ⚫  Don't grow, adapt, or change

  Living stones are fundamentally different:

• ⚫  Made alive by God's grace through faith

• ⚫  Must be fitted together (not just stacked)

• ⚫  Physical death doesn't end our existence

Isolation weakens us spiritually 고립이 영적으로 우리를 약화시키는 이유
Digital church supplements but can't replace embodied community
디지털 교회는 공동체의 대면적인 만남을 보완할 수 있지만, 대체할 수는 없는 이유 Small groups and relationships aren't just programs—they're how stones connect

Conflict resolution matters—a poor fit compromises the building

Characteristics of Living Stones 살아있는 돌의 특징
They GROW - We mature in faith, develop spiritual gifts, and increase wisdom
자란다 - 우리는 믿음 안에서 성숙하고, 영적인 은사를 개발하며, 지혜가 늘어난다.
They REPRODUCE - Living things multiply; we make discipes who make disciples
번식한다 - 살아있는 것은 번식한다. 우리는 제자를 삼아 제자를 낳는다.
They HEAL - When wounded or damaged, we can be restored by Christ’s power.
치유한다 - 상처입거나 손상되었을 때, 우리는 그리스도의 능력으로 회복될 수 있다.
They ADAPT - We respond to changing circumstances, new challenges, cultural shift
적응한다 - 우리는 변화하는 상황, 새로운 도전, 문화적 변화에 반응한다.
They INTERACT - We have genuine relationships with other stones in the building
소통한다 - 우리는 건물 안에 있는 다른 돌들과 진정한 관계를 맺는다
They MOVE - We're not stuck in one location; we go where God sends us (Missional)
움직인다 - 우리는 한 곳에 머물러 있지 않다; 하나님이 우리를 보내시는 곳으로 간다(선교적).

베드로전서 2:5 이해하기

놓인 자리에 머무른다

근본적인 대조: 죽음 대 삶

전통적인 재료 (돌, 벽돌, 나무, 콘크리트):

단단하고, 움직일 수 없고, 생명이 없다

자라거나, 적응하거나, 변하지 않는다

살아있는 돌은 근본적으로 다르다:

하나님의 은혜로 믿음을 통해 살아있게 됨

함께 맞춰져야 한다 (단순히 쌓는 것이 아니다)

육체적인 죽음이 존재를 끝내지 않는다

Peter identifies Jesus as "the living stone" in verse 4.

베드로는 예수님을 4 절에서 "살아있는 돌"로 지칭한다.

He is living because He was dead and now is alive.

예수님은 죽으셨다가 살아나셨기 때문에 살아 계신다.

Jesus is called the stone because He is the cornerstone of the house of God.

예수님은 하나님의 집의 모퉁이돌이므로 돌이라고 불린다.

In ancient construction, the cornerstone was the most critical stone in the entire building. 고대 건축에서 모퉁이돌은 전체 건물에서 가장 중요한 돌이었다.

It determined alignment - Every other stone took its position from the cornerstone
그것은 건물 전체의 정렬을 결정했다 - 다른 모든 돌은 모퉁이돌로부터 위치를 잡았다. It bore the weight - The structural integrity depended on it
그것은 무게를 지탱했다 - 구조적 완전성이 그것에 달려 있었다.
It set the angle - The entire building's orientation flowed from it

Conclusion 결론
As the Master Builder, God places His living stones just where He wants us to be. Our Lord, the foundation Stone, is alive

forevermore and will never crumble.

Every believer's position, purpose, and function is determined by their relationship to Christ.

모든 신자의 위치, 목적, 그리고 기능은 그리스도와의 관계에 의해 결정된다.

We don't decide where we fit—He does.

우리 스스로 자신이 어디에 맞을지 결정하지 않는다. 그분이 결정하신다.

Our alignment isn't to programs or preferences, but to the Person of Jesus.

우리의 정렬은 프로그램이나 선호도가 아닌 인격이신 예수님께 맞춰져 있다. Built Into a Spiritual House 신령한 집으로 지어진다.

Peter explains that believers are individually living stones. Together, those stones are being made into a house.

베드로는 신자들은 개별적으로 살아있는 돌이라고 설명한다. 함께, 그 돌들은 집으로 지어지고 있다.
By using the word “spiritual”, Peter helps his readers know he is not talking about a literal, physical house.“신령한”이라는 단어를 사용함으로써, 베드로는 독자들이 자신이 문자적이고 물리적인 집에 대해 이야기하는 것이 아니라는 것을 알도록 돕는다.

The stones are meant to fit together so that something whole, something more than a collection of individuals, comes into being—a temple, a dwelling of God by His Spirit. 돌들은 서로 맞춰져서 단순한 개인들의 집합 이상의 전체, 하나님의 영이

거하시는 곳, 곧 성전이 되도록 설계되었다.

This challenges how we see the church today:

이것은 오늘날 우리가 교회를 보는 방식에 도전을 준다.

Individualistic Christianity - "Just me and Jesus" misses the point
개인주의적 기독교 – "나와 예수님"만으로는 요점을 놓친다.
Consumer mentality - Church isn't about what I get, but what we become together

소비자적 사고방식 – 교회는 내가 무엇을 얻는지가 아니라 우리가 함께 무엇이 되는지에 대한 것이다. Isolation - You can't fulfill your purpose separated from other believers
고립 – 다른 신자들과 분리되어 있으면 목적을 달성할 수 없다.
Christ “is building HIS church” – that’s YOU and ME!

그리스도는 "그분의 교회"를 세우고 계신다 – 그것은 당신과 나이다!

The Building Is Always Under Construction

건물은 항상 건설 중이다.

The verb tense in 1 Peter 2:5 is significant: "are being built" (present continuous tense).

베드로전서 2:5의 동사 시제는 중요하다: "지어져 가고 있다" (현재 진행형). This means: 이것은 다음을 의미한다.

• ⚫  The church is never "finished" until Christ returns
